Health and Safety Policies and Procedures

Amid on-going concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the 34th General Synod will observe the following protocols. These policies and procedures are to be adhered to by all General Synod participants during the full course of the event including pre-Synod events, and the days established for production and exhibit hall set-up and tear down and are subject to change as circumstances continue to evolve.

Self-check
If you, or others you have interacted with, have experienced any symptoms of illness such as fever, chills, dry cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat within the past 14 days, please stay home.

Masking
Masks are welcome but are not required to attend the General Synod or any related events. Masks will be available on site for those who prefer or desire to wear them.

Vaccination/Testing
Proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test result is not required to attend General Synod.

  • All participants are asked to:
    • Allow for social distancing as indicated by participants and the stickers on their badges:
    Green – contact welcome, including handshakes and hugs.
    Yellow – ask.
    Red – observe social distancing and avoid contact.
    • Exercise hand-hygiene by washing hands and using sanitizer regularly.
    • Refrain from attending events if experiencing COVID symptoms.

Hand Sanitizer
Sanitizer stations are available throughout the Indiana Convention Center. In addition, each attendee with receive a bottle of personal size hand sanitizers compliments of the Pension Boards-United Church of Christ.

It is important to note:
• If the safety policies at the Indianapolis Convention Center change to a more restrictive one than identified in these policies and procedures, the General Synod will follow those requirements, and attendees will be notified in advance.
• All policies are subject to change as circumstances and public health guidelines evolve. Updates will be posted on the General Synod website – https://generalsynod.org
