Prayer Walk and Vigil

Note: Due to inclement weather, the Prayer Walk and Vigil has been moved to Exhibit Hall D.

General Synod participants and local advocates are invited to join a UCC Prayer Walk and Vigil on Saturday, July 1st from 2-4pm in Exhibit Hall D. The vigil will include music and brief remarks led by UCC leadership as well as representatives from the Indiana-Kentucky Conference, including two UCC Indiana State legislators.

Together, we will lift up in story and prayer the many challenges our nation and communities face that undermine the common good. We will share stories and statistics on these issues, and in particular lament the recent legislative attacks on trans rights and the wider LGBTIA+ community, as well as the erosion of reproductive rights taking place in state legislatures across the nation. As people of faith and the Church gathered, we cannot be silent. Please join us!

As Frederick Douglass once said, “I prayed for freedom for twenty years, but received no answer, until I prayed with my legs.” Together, let us move our feet and lift our prayers and voices for the values of love and justice – all toward a vision of a Just World for all!
