Vigil: A Call to Welcome Immigrants and Asylum Seekers

As we face the reality of anti-immigrant politics based in fear and as the Biden administration puts forth policies that ban asylum seekers, faith communities are called to respond and take action.

What: Vigil and action with testimonies from pastors, service providers and impacted leaders

Where: Indianapolis Immigration Customs Enforcement Office/ Federal Building. We will meet at University Park- 307 N Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46204

We’re asking the Biden administration to end the asylum ban and to create new pathways for humane reception where people can be welcomed with dignity.

We want an end to family separation and asking the Immigration Customs Enforcement to create community based alternatives to detention.

We’re asking Congress to put less funding to ICE and CBP and instead put the necessary funding for case management infrastructures for asylum seekers- see action alert.

Together we will work to educate and raise consciousness around the intersectionality of racial justice, LGBTQIA+ rights and climate justice.

Speakers will include pastors from the Texas and Arizona U.S. Mexico-Border and UCC leaders such as Rev. Traci Blackmon.
